FAQ

  • What does Mend offer me? How long is it?

Mend: A Course to Improve Your Relationship with Yourself offers you a structure to guide you through your own inner work to improve the ways that you treat yourself. You will receive 2 hours of video instruction (audio with slides) as well as a 25 page workbook full of journal prompts, exercises, and resources.

  • Does your courses offer accessible options like closed captioning?

In order to not impair your view of each content slide, I elected to paste the transcript below each video. This will enable you use your typical text-to-voice readers and even copy text into a translator. I ask that you honor my work as a writer by not using these transcripts outside of your own educational pursuits.

  • I can’t seem to download the workbook or worksheets?

It may help to ask a friend or tech expert in your life if they can help you. Here are some general troubleshooting tips you can try: 1) Refresh your browser, try downloading in a new browser window, or try a different browser. 2) Make sure that you have permissions set on your browser in such a way that you are allowed to download from websites. 3) Restart your computer. 4) Download on your desktop and then transfer it to your mobile device! 5) If you are viewing from your phone, make sure that you have a .pdf viewer installed.

  • Can I use yours courses for CEUs? Is this a graded course?

My courses are not registered with any professional body for continuing education. There are no grades assigned within the course materials. Any course I offer will be self-paced, designed to support your own inner work, mental health, and personal growth.

  • I am a therapist. Can you help me understand how your courses would be most useful to me?

I’m glad you asked! Let me offer a few benefits: Therapists are encouraged to pursue their own personal therapy in order to understand the impacts of past experiences and relationships on their current practice as a therapist. Mend is a structured guide stepping you through this inner work. Though this course isn’t a substitute for therapy, it definitely aligns with the ethical obligation we have as mental health professionals to improve our relationships and mental health. Also, many therapists receive only limited instruction on career counseling. You can use my courses to learn more about career counseling. You may also recommend my courses to clients who would like to do career work.

  • Is this basically getting therapy? If not, what are the pros and cons of e-courses versus in-person therapy?

Psychotherapy involves diagnosing, evaluating, and treating you for a particular issue. Since this is a structured e-course, it isn’t psychotherapy. I am not your therapist. We do not have a treatment relationship. Here are advantages and disadvantages to therapy over e-courses. Therapy is a one-on-one relationship with a therapist who can compassionately listen to your concerns and help you figure out the best next steps in your life. You are a complex, nuanced person. Your therapist would work to deeply understand your individual situation rather than offer generalized education. A disadvantage to therapy is that you may not have the financial means to afford it. You may also not feel ready to share these experiences with someone, even a therapist. You may also have difficulties finding a therapist in your area who you connect with. Here are the advantages and disadvantages to e-courses like Mend. E-courses are a budget-friendly alternative to therapy that allows for deep educational work related to mental health and wellness concerns. You can work at your own pace and may feel more comfortable exploring your experiences in a very private way. A disadvantage to e-courses is that they do not offer individualized instruction, goals, support, and feedback. They are not a substitute for therapeutic treatment, a therapy relationship, or formal healthcare. Remember that you don’t necessarily need to pick one or the other. If you are in therapy, consider mentioning your interest in this course to your therapist. You can explore your reactions, get support, and share new insights gained from this course during your therapy sessions.

  • Can I try out the course before I buy it?

Sure! I have preview videos that you can watch.

  • Once I bought this course, is it mine to share with others?

I ask that you do not do this. Your purchase of the course allows you to access the course, not share it with others. One of the best ways to support creators, writers, and helpers is to honor their efforts by paying them.

  • How do I purchase a course as a gift?

Unfortunately, Thinkific doesn’t offer a gift option with my level of membership. Check back later for updates. As I build more courses into the School, I may revisit this.
